Started Tri-colored, short-haired Male that comes from several generations of successful trial stockdogs and working ranch parents. "Cap" will be a year old right before the sale.
He has a good recall and down, gets along with other dogs, been walked a lot on a leash, also tied to side of corral while other dogs work. Cap is comfortable being in kennel, crate, hauled in pickup cab or hanging out in the house. He shows a lot of natural herding ability while working sheep and light calves.
His sire "Shep" has a clean bite on both head and heels. Hips tested Good and DNA tested clear of all genetic defects. He works cattle, including pairs daily on our ranch. He is a very successful trial stockdog: 2024 Intermediate Cattle Reserve Champion at National Western Stockshow in Denver, Qualified for Mountain States Stockdog Assn Finals and short rd the last 3 yrs, finished 4th 2023 Intermediate Sheep and 6th Nursery Cattle, was Novice Horseback Champion(3rd overall) 2022 Slash J Cattle Trial.
His dam "Slash J Storm" works cattle great with Shep, making a handy team for us. Also the dog my son takes moving cattle. Her littermate "Slash J Edge" was 2023 USBCHA Natl Nursery Sheepdog Champion. Hips tested Fair and DNA tested clear of all genetic defects. SHe is also a successful trial stockdog: 2024 Reserve Champion Nursery Cattle at Natl Western Stockshow in Denver, qualified for last 2 MSSA Finals in Sheep/Cattle making short round both yrs, 2023 Idaho Horse Expo Reserve Horseback Nursery Champion.
