Our 5th generation Montana Ranch has been raising Cow Horses long before there was a Quarter Horse Association. The J bar S has earned a reputation for producing top-end Ranch Horses with an emphasis on being cowy, cool headed and ranch tough for the Rancher or for the Competitor. Resulting from many years of selective breeding the J bar S developed a tremendous broodmare herd by linebreeding Doc Tari bloodlines to develop consistency in conformation, cow sense and “do ability”. Then Doc Olena and High Brow Cat stallions are used to produce elite Ranch Horses with “built in” ability and dependability while maintaining that “herd settling” demeanor that’s required of “Real” Ranch Horses. The J bar Stenberg owns 3 Montana Brands, 2 are versions of the J-S and also the Wineglass brand that is used on the show “Yellowstone”.”
