We have had the honor of owning Rey Jay Boon, own son of Peptoboonsmal, for the last 3 years and have made the decision to offer him for sale. At 17 years old he requires no maintenance and is an easy keeper. He has several good years left in him. The photos were just taken, in his working clothes, and after coming out of the pasture with the mares. We have also done hand breeding with him.
Rey Jay was born out of the Carol Rose/Larry Hall cutting horses embryo program. And sustained any eye injury as a foal, so was never put into training. He was started as a 2 year-old, then he was used as a breeding stallion and saddle horse on the Boarderview Ranch for the next 12 years. He had some further training in heeling and cow work. He naturally has an incredible stop and stamps that on his babies. He is still a pleasure to ride. Our 9 year old son can catch him, saddle and just ride off. His progeny have all been very cowy, good minded, and have great work ethic. His progeny have excelled in the arena as rope horses as well the NILE and MTRHA futurities. Tiffany Ogren’s great break-away horses, Tesla ($25K+ earned), Chili ($20K+ earned), and Spice ($3K+ with very limited showing) are all sired by Rey Jay Boon.
